Actually, this section of Jesus speech is a part of the Sermon on the Mount in which Christ used a series of hyperbole to make a point. You know what hyperbole is, an exagerated expression like: “I’m so hungry I can eat a horse.”
In fact this expression has to do with condemning those who misused oaths to constantly claim validity to their expressions. In Jesus’ day people would swear by the earth or heaven, the gold used to make Herod’s temple, even the hair on their heads as “evidence” that their words were true and not lies. Jesus was saying this was foolishness and that people should just say what they mean instead, with honesty the best policy.
However, if one has no hair and wears a wig, then is that okay? Hmmm.
