A book I read a long time ago?
This book was given to me in elementary school after a candy sale as thanks for participating. the first thing we all noticed was that it WASN’T for 4th graders because of all the cursing in it. I read it anyway and it was about this guys with magic powers I think and I believe his familiar was a dog. At the end they killed the dog and used its blood to write a message to the boy. Any idea what this book is? I can’t seem to find it anywhere. the cover had the picture of a person in something like watercolor swirls that were purple and blue I think (this was 5 years ago so I’m really not sure)
