If I major in Fine Arts (painting specifically) can I also do graphic design?
Can an art major work as a graphic designer or does he or she need some other type of preparation? What other careers are there availible for fine art majors?
You can do whatever you set your mind to.
Your capacity as a painter will be an asset in graphic design but you will need to educate yourself in computer graphics to be a graphic designer;familiarizing yourself with the variable graphic arts computer programs (id: photo shop etc.)
With those combined skills, you could be an very useful and effective editorial illustrator.
