Chinese Items

Objets Chinois « Chinese items » is a new company created 1 year ago by Hadrien Recanati a young French businessman living in china.

Hadrien. Could you please explain us how you arrived in China?

Since I was three years old, my parents have always taken my two brothers and myself to Asia, from Nepal to Malaysia, Thailand to India, Great Wall to Komodo island. We visited unusual places, met great people, friendly, respectful and helpful. I feel very close to these people who are so different from us in appearance but are full of sincerity and joy.

Concerning China, I had the opportunity to study three years in Beijing, so I didn’t really hesitate. My love for Asia has determinate my choice.

Why did you decide to create ObjetsChinois “Chinese Items

After I moved to Beijing, I decided to create my own business in order to pay the rent of my apartment every month! It took me few months to decide to sell some Chinese items in France (and all around the world) because, “At the beginning I was only a collector of Chinese art. Because of the high prices of the Asian art on the European market I was curious to understand why was it that expensive. It didn’t took me long time to realize that the prices of Asian art sold in France were not justified. My passion made my motivation grow so that I could allow people in love with Chinese and Asian art to buy their favorite items to a fair price. Due to my activity on the Internet, I work alone and have no middleman. This allows me to have fewer costs and make attractive prices for my clients (my prices are until 10 times lower than those of a usual shop). You know, the history of China is also fabulous and rich as ours. Since I travel around Asia I am always interested in the art market. And China has many treasures which we are fond.

My goal is to share my love for Asian and Chinese art by selling it to an affordable price. ObjetsChinois is becoming famous all around the world due to its networks of resellers. You can now find items from ObjetsChinois in several countries like: Indonesia, Portugal, France, Spain, Italia, China…

Which kind of  items do you sell ? and where do you find them?

I am specialized in Chinese ancestors paintings, wooden Buddha statues, Chinese kakemonos (Paintings), Chinese traditional items, snuff boxes, cricket boxes, Chinese old wooden boxes, and on the Miao Minority items (clothes and Jewellery). About my items, “of course†I love the beauty and the ancient, but I quickly realized that the acquisition of an authentic Ming dynasty statue was almost impossible! This is why I am now specialized in the reproduction market (but it’s the high quality one). All my wooden Buddha statues are made in a Nineteenth century wood. It adds undeniable value to the object.

I also developed a network of suppliers and brokers (some of them have become loyal friends). They often have original items, but which can hide very poor imitation. We must learn to recognize the bone, ivory, plastic, resin, silver, nickel […]. Some Chinese are unscrupulous, as elsewhere. Every week I go in the Beijing suburbs in order to find unusual items.

What are the qualities of ObjetsChinois “Chinese Itemsâ€, and why do you operate all around the world?

I can set my company in 4 words

-          Low Prices

-          High Quality items

-          Unique items

-          Professional

I want to succeed in changing the rules. What I mean is that a successful selling art item online isn’t usual. One, usually buy a piece of art in an art gallery, because it is important to see it for real, to touch it, to get one special connection with it. People are still afraid to buy art items on Internet. It is my goal to reassure the clients and create a confident relation.

ObjetsChinois “Chinese Items†is still a small company. Right now the profit allows me to live and study in Beijing, not more! But I know that the market for Chinese items is very important, so I recently decided to subcontract with a Chinese company to create a new website. This allows me to limit my sales on Ebay and to develop my own website www.ObjetsChinois.com. I also hired a person who does the world E-Marketing. Why would I limit my art-buyers to France or to the European continent when I can have a worldwide market?

Do you really have low prices?

Just check my internet website! If you have a look at the prices on the Internet, you will find out that my items can’t be found at a cheaper price then the ones on my website. For example:

-          Chinese ancestor paintings

-          Chinese wooden statue items

-       Chinese cricket box

Talk about your future, What will be new?

Objets Chinois launched a few months ago a new collection of ethnics jewelries. They are from the Miao minorities and are being reviewed by our designers so that they can be weared easily. You can find our new collection on our website.
