A Tribute to Mother Earth
By Johnnie J. Lim
The world is aging.
We have eyed the changes in climate;
Global warming,
The unpredictable attacks of natural calamity, and
The effects of these.
Are we not concerned of this?
Why blame the nature when it strikes in anger?
Why twist the story by considering ourselves as the victims, and not as the suspects?
Yes, we are.
We are victims of our own greed, of our own deed.
Who is to be blamed?
These garbage around, illegal logging, improper disposal of harmful chemicals, deadly
fumes from factories and the like.
We are reckless, irresponsible, immature, vindictive, and lazy.
Are we happy with these descriptions?
Tell me who is the victim here?
Is it the Mother Earth, or we?
Ever since the world began, Mother Earth has been kind to mankind.
She never fails to keep us safe,
She never stops to give us food,
She never gives up nor complains, and most of all,
She never blames us for what we’ve done.
If only nature could talk, she would shout or cry aloud to express her sentiments.
If only nature could walk, she would run away to abandon us for good.
Where would we go then?
What are we going to do?
How about the future generation?
How about us?
Who will save us?
God?
Of course, yes!
For it is only HE who can let miracles happen.
We know it, and we never ever denounce this belief. But,
If only God could talk to us in person, HE would give us a century long of sermon.
If only God could stand to leave us, HE would ignore us for the rest of our life.
This I leave for you to think………..
To reflect on what to do to save our Mother Earth,
To be responsible before it’s too late.
