Is there any kind contemporary art that is seen as an important icon?

I was given a question to answer in a presentation for my Humanities course, but i can’t really find anything to talk about. Is there any type of contemporary art that is seen as an icon or symbol?
The entire question is
Define the word icon and be sure you understand its function in Orthodox Christianty. Is there anything comparable in contemorary art in terms of function?
I’m not trying to start a religious debate…i just could use some help. Please and thank you!
