Can I feed my adult cat kitten food?
I have recently been told that feeding my kitten adult food may be harmful for him, and have decided to put him back on kitten food. In the meantime, I can’t seem to keep my adult cat out of the kitten food. They are used to eating in the same place at the same time.
I have had both adult cats and kittens in the same household. The kittens have food that is very hight in protein and fat calories bacause they are little, growing, and extremely active. An Adult cat loves the kitten food because of the high fat calories and they will eat it and get fat because they are not as active and their nutritional needs are not as high as the kitten.

By paying close attention to your kitten’s nutrient intake, you have a better chance of raising a healthy and happy kitten.

Protein: 35 to 50% protein
Fat: 17 to 35% fat
Energy:
* at two months: 175kcal/day
* at three months: 260kcal/day
* at six months: 280kcal/day
Unlike adult cats, kittens can be fed on demand, since they will stop eating once they’re full. This method allows your young kitten to eat as much as she needs in order to grow into a healthy adult cat.”
So you need to let the kitten eat whenever it wants to (and however much it wants to) and the adult cat needs to be restricted to a balanced amount of calories and nutients intake or it will get fat.
