painting windows upstairs. is bird ok downstairs?
we’re painting the 3 windows above the porch upstairs and the window in my sisters room. my cockatiel is downstairs and u can start smelling the paint once u start climbing the stairs. is my bird ok as long as shes downstairs(in the dining room behind the stairs)?
Move the cage outside for the time being, let the house air out before you bring your bird back in.
Your probably using Enamel paint and that’s not too good for your bird. Check the can, see if it is?
Latex paint is an oxidizing paint (air drys the latex from the paint and it hardens- drys) This is OK providing it is not too much.
Enamel is an thermo-setting paint (thermo-chemical reaction drys the paint.) This is probably what you are using on account of windows (gloss or semi-gloss). This is not good at any amounts to your bird. Please remove your bird if this is the case.
